The upper slopes of the north side of Copper Butte on May 31, 2004. Earlier in the year the trail up the peak will be snowcovered. It would be just as easy to go up however which way you choose. I beared directly up the north ridge from Kettle Pass. The trail wends its way up the northwest side of the north ridge at first.
