i am really suprised at the amount of snow still on the ground on the 4th of July!

Yeah, the PNW gets a lot of snow- often more than the Sierra, & even world-record amounts at times (esp. around Crater Lake)- they'd just opened up the road that circumnavigates the lake right around this time too! As the area is farther N, it also takes longer for it to melt (longer nights there until the equinox). There are a good number of large glaciers below 10,000', which I think is really cool. Thanks for stopping by.
