If accessing Wetterhorn from the West Fork Cimarron trailhead, you'll encounter a stretch of steep snow at 12,000' on your way up to Pass 12,500'. This photo was taken on July 8, 2004. Steepest section (40 °?) can be bypassed to the right. Ice axe advisable.
