| Raman on the 3rd class knife... | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Raman on the 3rd class knife edge ridge just before the class 4 crux. Although a little easier, this section had more exposure than the 4th class section. It is probably possible to downclimb below this ridge to avoid it, but you would miss out on the fun. July 10, 2004.

Great shot of a cool looking ridge. Thanks for the added info on Lindsey, the ridge will be my choice when I climb it. How does the "knife edge" compare to Capitol's? The exposure looks less severe than the neighboring Little Bear / Blanca ridge. | | Posted Jul 15, 2004 11:58 am |

I am used to the exposure so I didn't think it was that difficult, but Raman was pretty spooked. I would say it is more difficult than than Capitals because the actual peak of the ridge is very sharp. You wouldn't want to straddle it! You could actually downclimb around it, but it is fun so I didn't want to avoid it.
The exposure is less than Little Bear/Blanca because the cliffs aren't nearly as high on the back side but still might kill. On the side Raman is on, the exposure is minimal because the cliff is probably only about 70 degrees. I told her to quit looking down and just pretend she was in a climbing gym on an easy route and then she was fine. | | Posted Jul 16, 2004 12:52 am |

Tell Raman "way to go!" (She's got a good coach. If she'll keep on climbing with you, she'll learn a lot.) | | Posted Jul 16, 2004 6:46 am |
