The East Face of Monte Cristo... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The East Face of Monte Cristo...
The East Face of Monte Cristo Peak on Sept. 22, 2001. The North Col Route comes up to, duh, the North Col then traverses steep snow to a short chimney (5.6). Above the chimney, a slanting ledge (a ramp) leads left to easier scrambling terrain. Just above the ramp part the rock turns to total crap, but it's manageable. You can see this rock transition in the photo represented by the rust color.
