View of the East Ridge's final summit push from near Point 13,420'. Really there are no obstacles along this stretch--the most difficult part of the ridge is below you. Notice that the snow (in this year at least) is collecting on the south side of the ridge. 15 July 2004.

The south side of the ridge does receive more snow loading and less wind scour. Check out this photo from winter:

Wow, the prevailing wind velocity from the north must be *intense*! From my recollection, the slope angles on both sides were relatively tame. It is surprising to see the north side scoured.
