The old boarding house for... [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
The old boarding house for...
The old boarding house for the ghost town of Sneffels serves as a backdrop for a splash of color from Yankee Boy Basin's wildflowers. Most of the townsite, including this structure, has since been raised by the current mining claim holders. Yankee Boy was once a mining haven, and continues to be a modest producer for prospectors, but much of Colorado's rich mining heritage has been lost with the natural and purposeful destruction of these old ghost towns over the years. The current site still sports the old bar, but it is otherwise aneyesore along the 4WD road into upper Yankee Boy Basin. Summer, 1978.
