We ran into some confusion on our Sneffels climb from Yankee Boy Basin. We parked much lower than the jeeps shown here (12,400 feet!!!) and walked up from below. At the base of the tarn, we saw a sign marked "trail". This trail is not the trail you use for Sneffels's southern routes! This trail seems to lead to Gilpin Peak. We wouldn't have taken it, save for the advice of two knuckleheads who told us with confidence that it would get us to Blue Lakes Pass. In fact, we had to traverse an entire basin full of talus and steep snowfields to get to the pass. Comments [ Post a Comment ]
