Sassongher's 'back side'
Sassongher's 'back side' is not really the one, which would not be attractive! Here, it is seen from NW, we are arriving from Gherdenacia high plateau. Corvara is just behind it. Below is Forcella Sassongher (not seen), and from it the summit ascent can be clearly seen - scree, the rocky climbing part, the narrow exposed ledge and the summit scree. August 3rd, 2004.

That is why I like so much this picture - or the view from this side. The face looks wild, the path scary, when it leans over the abysses. But in fact it is not. The climbing few meters are well secured and the path is broad enough. Only if it was snow or any other bad conditions everything could change.
