Can you get around the 5.7 stuff?

You can... Definitely on the right side (some loose junk there but looked easier) and maybe even on the left. Although, it would probably still be 5th class either way.

Did you have to leave any of your own rap slings or were there plenty already?

We brought about 10 self-made slings (1" webbing) and did not leave a single one of them on the route. Apparently, somebody climbed the route recently and refreshed all rappel slings. Whoever you are, thank you for saving us time and money!

Are you planning to do this traverse?

I wanted to do this traverse last year but plans fell through. I still want to do it. I don't know when I will be able to though.

Good work. My suggestion will be to prepare for a lot of exposed 4th and 5th class solo'ing. A couple of rappels that we had to do enroute were pretty burly (i.e. horizontal rappel/climb between Thunderbolt and Starlight, rappel between Starlight and North Pal involved pushing yourself off the wall and landing on a block detached from it by several feet - scary! :)

If you are really solid on 5th class terrain, you can downclimb all rappels, but I don't think that I am up for it anytime soon.

I definitely dislike downclimbing 5th class. I would definitely bring a rope. What length did you take?

We took a full length (200'/60m) rope but if I remember correctly it was only 9.5mm. Pretty light...

One or two rappels (out of six) were close to 100 feet.
