This rope goes over the southwest face route of the Dent du Géant, starting in the slabs. In our opinion it should not be there. GUIDES PLEASE !! TAKE THE ROPE DOWN. Merci!!

The ropes on the Geant normal route have been completely changed one month ago, with new anchors, etc.



While there have been some call in the past for the fixed ropes to be removed, the Society of the Guides at Courmayeur (who owns the responsibility for the maintenace of the route), thinks that this one is of some historical value (the ropes have been there for half a century), like a sort of old "altitude ferrata". While this is debatable, I feel that the important thing is that no such new "altitude ferrate" are equipped in the massif...
