Great photos. I'd love to take a kayak up there and poke around under the tallus and glacier.

This ilustrates well what can lie beneath a thin vaneer of talus. Is this a traditional glacier transitioning to a rock glacier?

I think it is still a traditional glacier (though not much moving) that consists mainly of ice, but it is almost fully covered with stones.

But I know that there are also rock glaciers (german term: "Blockgletscher") in the Hohe Tauern, that consist mainly of frozen stones.
