Annotated view of the route...
Annotated view of the route choices to surmount the Klawatti-Austera Col. Photo taken from the Austera Peak (Klawatti Glacier) side. Once the snow has melted back too far, probably the easiest way over is the pink line. A viable Class 5 chimney (mid-5th?) looks good for an upclimb going back, but not necessarily a downclimb. However, it is a walk-off on the other side. Aug. 20, 2004.

Climbed the class five chimney (estimate 5.4). Somewhat loose, but good pro. The class four route would have necesitated a rap off of the opposite side.
