Pacific Peak, from Spruce Creek Basin. The broad shoulder of Pacific's east ridge is seen on the left. Further left of the photo, a number of couloirs offer ascent and descent options for climbing Pacific from the east. However, these routes involve loose rock and exposure and shoud be attempted by experienced climbers only. In snow conditions, a number of route possibilities would make good snow climbs. In addition to ice axe and crampons, rope and gear may be required. Fall, 2004. Digital photo by Aaron Johnson

Hasn't voted | Fall is indeed a bit early this year. Trees are already changing in the metro area. Trees around Breckenridge and Highway 91 south of Copper Mountain are in full color. Lucky for me and Ellen, we're headed for a week of climbing in the San Juans starting the 17th! Ought to be awesome. I love the fall in Colorado! What a joyous time to climb!
Yes, I know we're spoiled. I'll be thinking of you! | | Posted Sep 12, 2004 2:29 pm |

Hasn't voted | Well, we hope to climb a new route up the west face of Peak C that contours your route on our way to the San Juans. We'll arrive in Ouray late Sunday afternoon. On the wish list from there are Potosi, researching the route I attempted in '81 from the standard route vantage, Amphitheater Mountain trail, Engineer, Golden Horn-Vermilion traverse and Half Peak. Pretty aggressive for an old coot like me, but I'll give it a shot! | | Posted Sep 12, 2004 5:11 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Sound very nice. As long as there isn't too much snow you can probably do that. | | Posted Sep 12, 2004 9:07 pm |

Hasn't voted | I'm counting on Indian summer to take hold, as it usually does in the San Juans this time of year. But our weather has been flaky this year. We'll see what happens. We've got alternate plans lined up if things go down the tubes. | | Posted Sep 12, 2004 9:26 pm |
