The view of the approach and...
The view of the approach and exit from the Northeast Face. The trick to skiing out is finding the longest snow finger and hopping back and forth until there's no snow left. The rocky face at the top of the photo is the Southwest Face of Raker Peak. The Emigrant Pass Trailhead is a mile or less to the right along CA SR-89, depending on where you come out. June 9, 2002.

Hey John,

Have you ever seen anyone out there pulling on that stone on Raker peak? It looks like good solid granite to me. Just curious...M Jones

Hmm ... I've never seen anyone up there but that's not saying much since I don't go up there that often. Since it's so close to the road and less than a mile from the Devastated Area parking lot, it would be easy to go up there and do some exploring. Perhaps we can convince Josh to head up and try it out? ;-)
