Looking down...
Looking down on Lassen Peak from 32,000 feet as my plane headed for Sacramento. Brokeoff Mtn. is at the lower right. My GPS said the airspeed was 533 MPH.

rpcA very productive flight!!

Nice series of aerial shots Dean!

This has got to be one of the prettier flight paths in the country (that west coast stretch bet. Seattle and Sacramento)....easy to keep track as to exactly where you are by counting off the Cascade volcanos.

Next challenge for you....can you spot Ycatapom peak in the Trinity Alps (should be just SW of Shasta and W of Lassen) on the next trip and snap a good shot of that? I've tried on a few occasions but I think that in most instances the flight path is directly over that range (would need to ask mr. pilot to get up front for that one :)

Thanks Matthew. I had a chance to do Sutter county, Yolo county and 5 others in your area so I jumped for it. How many SPS and DPS ones did you end up with for the year?

(I think you must have worn a groove in the road from your home base to the eastern side of the Sierras this year)

I ended up stuck at 120 SPS climbs (116 peaks)--I don't think I did any from pretty much November onwards since the weather's been bad whenever I've thought of heading out.

I never made it out to any DPS peaks... hopefully next year. There look to be a whole bunch of peaks around the Mojave and especially the Vegas area that have "climb me" written all over them.

I'm intrigued that you did Sutter--was that a clandestine effort?

Especially since I know the area. Good job! By the way that's Brokeoff Mtn.

Thank you for the name correction. I was fortunate enough to have a window that had no scratches or distortions in it for this shot.

Funny, that pic has been up 4 years and you are the first to notice that. Have a nice thanksgiving...
