most exposed section [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
most exposed section
this is the most exposed section of the NE ridge where you need to have a good head for heights for this fine view down to Vierwaldstaettersee lake (August 2003)

I seem to remember that this section can be avoided on the left (on your way up). I don't think that so many people would reach the summit if this piece of the ridge were unavoidable.

Hasn't voted

So we did! - we traversed this section on the left in climbing direction (on the right on the picture) - but that wasn't fine: rocks were loose and it was too difficult for me to go down safely without rope - that means UIAA III. Following the guys on the picture is easier than it looks and it is not that airy as it looks on the picture. So I felt some relief that descent was easier that expected.
