Leading the mud chimney on P2... [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
Leading the mud chimney on P2...
Leading the mud chimney on P2 of Stolen Chimney on Ancient Art on a very brisk (~low 30's) morning on December 24, 2004. The rock is interesting but the climbing is mostly easy. As it turned out, this would be the last photo our Nikon Coolpix 4300 would ever take (photo # 10049). It denied us the opportunity to photograph the awsome upper pitches of this route!! In an attempt to fix the "system error" with my highly skilled tapping/shaking/cursing, I ended up performing a coupe de grace with my fist (semi-accidentally :)

Not good, Radek. I have a Nikon 4300. What do you think happened?

Yeah, I was pretty unhappy too. I kind of think that it self-destructed as it was designed to do. It just broke the 10K photos shot barrier when it died. Think Nikon wants the customers to rush out and get the 5400 model or whatever the new (expensive!) one is :)

Maybe the dirt/sweat/sand/heat/condensation/temperature swings it usually faces when we climb with it helped it along?

Still, it's a really nice camera I thought.

Mm-yeah, banging it around is not good for it, Radek. It will be interesting to see what happens when mine turns 10K. Ellen has the 5400. It's a nice one for sure.
