Fifty years ago, the Sommeiller glacier (right) came to lick the lake of the Ambin Hill.
On its wonderful eternal snows, we skied in August.
Today, there is nothing of all this, only the memories and vintage photographs.

Voted 10/10 | Surely you were somewhere near the Ricovero Galambra when taking this shot? Years ago I had quite an uncomfortable night there...but the walk over that plateau above 3000 meters in the evening was quite spectacular!

i've taken this image (october 2012) at the Hill of Sommeiller (Ambin), where, one time, there was the Shelter Ambin.
Scarfiotti Shelter is on the plateau more under and you have quite right, the promenade to 3000 m. on the hill is fantastic (especially at night with a full moon).
