This is of course what the Pic d'Ardiden area is also famous for: The notorious Tour the France climb to Luz Ardiden. This is where Armstrong fell in 2003, got up and ultimately took the stage win, and probably won the overall as well! (Couldn't resist posting this shot .. )

Hasn't voted | I love the tour de France as well of course (Miguel Indurain, winner of 5 tours, he was born and live in Villaba, only at 6 km from Pamplona, my home town where I live; I was see him many times in the roads trainning and running many races when I was a child). When I see this road I remember the glorious days of Indurain (Armstrong is good, very good, but Indurain was very special; he was a perfect "gentlemen" of the route).
Indurain, Indurain, Induraaaain!
thanks for the picture! | | Posted Jan 9, 2005 12:29 pm |

Voted 10/10 | But Luz Ardiden was also the second stage win of Miguel Indurain in the Tour de France (1990). It was the beginning of an incredible era for spanish cyclism. And Perico Delgado chasing Steven Rooks and Gert-Jan Theunisse in 1988, and so on, and so on...
By the way: great shot Rick. Have to get up there some time or other on my bicycle. | | Posted Feb 21, 2005 9:35 am |

Voted 10/10 | Yep, on motorbike it's nicer, but I don't think the fun would be the same | | Posted Feb 22, 2005 8:35 am |
