Grinnell Point Outcropping

Grinnell Point Outcropping

The crux of the upper portion of the Grinnell Point South Ramp Route. After zig-zagging uphill to the north of the prominent snow chute for several hundred vertical feet, it becomes apparent that utilizing this outcropping to negotiate an otherwise frightening cliff face is the only way to safely continue farther. Fortunately, the outcropping can be climbed with minimal exposure (and no exposure to the steep snow chute), and after stemming or jumping across a small crack you will gain this point from where the photo was taken. Much easier terrain lies ahead! Allen Mountain and Lake Josephine are visible in the background. June 27, 2013
