To put things in the right perspective:
The north face of Grandes Jorasses compared on the same scale with the Empire State Building, New York's tallest skyscraper. Because of the foreshortening of the mountain summit in the background picture, the comparison is sligthly more precise for the lowest part of the wall.

Voted 10/10 | Looks low angle and small. Is there any bouldering there?
Nice pic! | | Posted Feb 16, 2005 2:08 pm |

:)
Thanks!!! | | Posted Feb 16, 2005 2:11 pm |

Voted 10/10 | I thought there was supposed to be a giant gorilla on top of the Empire State Building! | | Posted Feb 16, 2005 3:23 pm |
 | | signorellil | Re: Hmm | | Hasn't voted | Here's a nice suggestion for Peter Jackson, who's directing the remake of "King Kong" due for release this year: in the final scene, the giant gorilla, holding the proverbial blonde girl in its huge hands (btw, the "blonde" in the remake is Naomi Watts), instead of the Empire State climbs the Walker spur (in a record time, of course!) and once at the top, gets killed by the helicopter of the mountain rescue....
Last Words:
"Hey, you didn't treated Cassin this way, didn't you?"
Seriously - the motion capture for the CGI King KOng is done by Andy Serkis (who played Gollum in "The Lord Of The Rings"), and Andy is notoriously an enthusiast rock climber! It may work! | | Posted Feb 16, 2005 3:38 pm |

Hasn't voted | But who would belay him? I mean, can you imagine the shock on the anchor (or you, if belaying from your harness) if King f*ing Kong took a lead fall (after all, he's only using 1 hand as he's holding the honey in the other)?!! Not to mention where would he find a harness that fits? | | Posted Nov 30, 2005 10:46 pm |

Hasn't voted | Who said he would need a belayer?
If King Kong is almost as tall as the empire state building, wouldn't this be a bouldering route?
Problem solved, now all we need is a giant crash pad | | Posted Dec 22, 2005 7:01 pm |

Voted 10/10 | This shows the real dimension of a great mountain!
