Independence Rock [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Independence Rock
Independence Rock
I uploaded this photo for historical interest, as this is the sandstone slab onto which John Otto carved the words of the Declaration of Independence in the early 1900's. This rock is a few hundred feet from the base of Independence Monument. One hundred years of erosion make the words hard to read now, but you can climb up on it and make out some of the words. Notice the stepping stones placed for that purpose, at left.
