Dawn. John digs out his...
Dawn. John digs out his glacier-travel gear for the descent from the saddle into Marble Creek Cirque on the approach to Eldorado Peak's West Arete. Mount Baker catches the sun on the left skyline; Mount Shuksan is just left of center. On the right is Backbone Ridge, named for the line of small peaks that protrude from it like vertebrae.
