The massif of Hochkalter seen from his neighbor, mount Watzmann.

In the deep the valley of Wimbachgriess separates the two mountains. The central groove is the Schneelahnergraben. Through the groove to the right the footpath from Wimbachgriess leads over the Hochalm and the Eisbodenscharte (the central notch in the northern ridge at the right side of the main summit) to the Blaueishut.
