"mixed beta" for Thielsen? Is it
actually easier to summit than
Mount Thomson in WA? The West
Ridge is considered to be the
standard route, right? And if a
person is fit and experienced,
it's not more than 6 hrs. to
the summit and back?? Nice pic!!

Haven't done Thomson so don't know. 6 hours would be a good time roundtrip, I usually end up taking so many photos and enjoying the scenery that it takes me longer but it is one of the shorter of the volcanoes to do with the easy access from the car park.

There does seem to be a variety of opinions as to how technical this is. Personally, I would say 3rd class with some 4th class moves and exposure but I never felt scared or exposed on it (until you look over the north side rim). :-)

First Mt. second attempt. First time was May 23rd and me and my friend got to the ridgeline where the 4 mile post is but it started raining and hailing sideways so we decided to turn around.
This attempt we drove from Portland OR and arrived at 1:30am and decided to start at 1:45am. Got to summit at 5:45am just in time to watch the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen. It was an exhausting but very well worth trip to the top and a beautiful day.
