View of Mt. Kineo from the east on Point 8,720. The east face of Mt. Kineo is very steep and not recommended for ascent. It is possible to ascend this slope if you are good at route finding and are into very steep hiking/scrambling.

Which one is Kineo?

The larger mountain in the background or the cone-shaped mountain in the foreground?

Re: Which one is Kineo?

Neither. Kineo is far steeper than either of these summits.

Re: Which one is Kineo?

Kineo is the conical shaped peak in the foreground. I had just hiked over it and verified the coordinates an hour or so before this picture was taken.

Re: Which one is Kineo?

The original has a 600 foot cliff that drops into Moosehead Lake!
