David Senesacexample of hi sat status quo

I realise a lot of folks here enjoy your bumped up high saturation images, Misha, and that you are a long time quite popular member of the Summitpost community. High sat is pretty much the status quo of how many pro photographers present their work today. A legacy of the turn away from Kodachrome to Velvia and high sat film in the 90s. I recall just a few years ago seeing Art Wolf's glowing candy red alpenglow pic of Isosceles Peak on the cover of Outdoor Photography Magazine and thinking he likely had seen my old 1980 image of that peak right on this board and that at least no one else will ever out sat him in Photoshop on that icon. My reason for commenting on this specific image instead of any of the several other such images in the top 100 or so is it is about the highest rated such image on the list thus likely to be viewed by others and I hope will provide some balance to others that there are indeeed some serious photographers that prefer a more natural style.

My personal preference and style and that which I most appreciate in others work, is for naturally rendered images because it is those experiences I value when standing in front of such natural phenomenon and in reverence to nature just as it is, thus wish to present so to my audience. For a lengthy essay on that preference beyond my terse input above, one can go to my below website and read that under "Style and Phillosophy".

You posted a similar rant on one of my images two years ago. I am not going to argue with you again about the technicalities of your statement that I happen to disagree with. At least this time you are picking at Art Wolfe and not just me (ha! I am in good company)

One thing I'd say though. Ever heard of a phrase "live and let live"? Perhaps, you should practice it. Landscape photography is art. You interpret it your way, others interpret it theirs. I trust and am content with that our viewers are intelligent enough to make their own decisions about what they prefer.

it isn't perfectly natural as the eye would see it, but this is certainly high-quality art...just a beautiful image and great reflection. Thanks so much for sharing!
