Crater Lake, Winter [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Crater Lake, Winter
Anyone looking for some fine Winter touring this year might consider a visit to Oregon's Crater Lake. You can generally ski around the lake in 3-4 days, preferably taking 4 and making turns down some of the caldera high points as well, such as Mount Scott. Elevations around 7000-8000 in the cascade range usually make for some drier snowfall. I arrived in January, 06' after an epic dumping of 100+ inches in the two weeks prior, and made the trek around the lake with quite a bit of camera gear. I also was fortunate enough to take one of the finest photographs of my life, an image that has since been published dozens of times. This from a vibrant sunrise at my 2nd campsite overlooking the lake and Wizard Island. Thanks for having a look.

Thanks for sharing!!! This is simply an amazing shot! I enjoy photography and shoot with a 5D also, but rarely take it climbing with me due to the bulk. I find your photo VERY inspiring! I may never capture something as good as this, but it will be fun trying! BZ!

it is interesting how this superb picture evokes emotions while looking - especially in the bigger version produced by the slideshow feature.

The image that started off Marc Adamus' Photoshop career. Keep believing that this image was completely created in the field, without the use of computers, etc etc. It's what Marc Adamus would want!

not to be petty, but:
you sir, are a moron. Even if its photoshopped it is still a pretty damn amazing picture.

The light is fantastic. I particularly like the foreground snow, which has a warm glow.
