Anyone looking for some fine Winter touring this year might consider a visit to Oregon's Crater Lake. You can generally ski around the lake in 3-4 days, preferably taking 4 and making turns down some of the caldera high points as well, such as Mount Scott. Elevations around 7000-8000 in the cascade range usually make for some drier snowfall. I arrived in January, 06' after an epic dumping of 100+ inches in the two weeks prior, and made the trek around the lake with quite a bit of camera gear. I also was fortunate enough to take one of the finest photographs of my life, an image that has since been published dozens of times.
