Yes, I have been feeling some holiness, ever since I took this photograph :-)

The spectre was completely unexpected. The other picture is even more impressive imho.

the most amazing photo I have seen on Summit Post. Enough has been said about it so I spare you. However, I have a question, if I may please. At the time you were taking this photo, did you actually see these rainbow rings? Or did you see them after you down loaded them into your computer?
Also, the shadow of your arms seem to be on your sides with a little seperation. How were you able to take this photo with your arms on the side? I do realize that I may not be seeing the photo correctly, or that you used a tri-pod and auto.
Amazing photo that needs to be treasured,
Happy climbing,
Marc

Hi Marc, yes, actually I saw the rings - otherwise I wouldn't have noticed to take the shot. Actually my girlfriend saw them first when we were on the summit. She took a photo of the summit cross shadow with her beside and suddenly exclaimed: "look at this". We then went on along the ridge and in a col saw this. Or rather

Those fogbows around the spectre were visible but the polarisation filter enhanced them.

As for the arms - I was shooting the conventional way - camera held to the eye - it's only the shadows which make my arm appear stretched to my sides.

Les did a great job of explaining the phenomenon on his site

I remember reading about this in Thomas Pynchon's novel Gravity's Rainbow. Very interesting. Cheers!
