Each year the Park Service opens the Going To The Sun Road in Glacier National Park in segments due to weather, snow plowing, avalanche danger, etc.

This past Sunday, Mother's Day, was the first day that hikers and bikers could go up the road as far as the plows had gone.

Two of my hiking partners, Cougar14 and Kitty, decided we should celebrate Mothers Day with a hike. We parked at Avalanche Campground and hiked to the Loop. This was a 9.27 mile hike with a mild elevation gain of 1000 to 1300 feet....round trip 18.54 miles. The following pictures are just a representation of Northwestern Montana at its best, for the viewing pleasure of Glacier National Park addicts like myself, and anyone else who cares to peruse them! Enjoy!
