Warning before hiking to Toe of Athabasca Glacier

Hike to the Toe of the Athabasca Glacier Strong warning sign at trailhead for those contemplating hiking to the toe of the Athabasca Glacier. This is no doubt for the hundreds of people who stop along the Icefields Parkway and decide they might just stroll up to the glacier. The sign states: "Heart or Lung Problems? You are at 2000 metres (6500 feet) If you've traveled from sea level or are living with heart or lung ailments, over-exerting yourself at this altitude is dangerous. The elderly are especially at risk. Take your time in the thin air, or consider not hiking to the glacier if you're concerned."
