Wasatch Serviceberries | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] | |||
Amelanchier alnifolia, a.k.a. saskatoon, from corrupted Cree Indian word "misâskwatômina". It gave a very abundant crop in the Wasatch Mountains in 2008. This berry tastes the best when it is absolutely ripe, without any tint of red. If your serviceberry has a mealy or bland taste, then you must have picked it too early. Early morning of 8/26/08 |
