because it's known by locals, but not Sp, until now!
A real Arizona treasure and part of Heritage Park, located just to the north of Prescott, Arizona. Prescott , pronounced ("Press-cut"),
became the original territorial Capitol of Arizona, back in 1863. (They have a GREAT micro-brewery there!!!)
There is no swimming or fishing, but on most days you'll
see a myriad of canoes and kyaks out on this scenic
lake.(The "pyramid-shaped" peak in the background is an ancient volcano, called Glassford Hill!) Comments[ Post a Comment ] | mtybumpo | Sweet Rocks! | |
Voted 10/10 | These rock are really interesting looking. It looks like the Black Hills in South Dakota. | | Posted Feb 1, 2008 7:54 pm |

Hasn't voted | These are "granite dells" similar to rock
formations in parts of California, where the
granite has been weathered and turned dark.
These "igneous" crags and "dells" of balancing rocks own their distinctiveness from long term weathering of the natural cracks in the rocks. Geologists call them "Joints or Planar Fractures.' This central Arizona location attracted Hollywood movie makers and films staring Tom Mix, Buck Jones and Cornell Wilde to name a few. Thanks for
the kind comment and best wishes from Arizona. - Larry | | Posted Feb 2, 2008 12:29 pm |

Hasn't voted | Right on! There's a body of water that
passes through these granite formations.
(I wouldn't be surprised if they have a
"boat rental" place nearby.)
I was picking up litter along the Verde River
the other day, and all of a sudden seven
"two-seater" kayaks appeared upriver and
paddled past. I really love that group of
folks. Seems like they're in tune with the
environment, and in rhythm with the stars!

Hasn't voted | Thanks! I grew up in northern Utah, but I've
been barely existing in central AZ for the
past 20 years.
Prescott has grown up lots since then .. | | Posted Mar 31, 2011 11:31 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Yeah, wow. Last time I was in Prescott was in spring 09 and couldn't believe how much different it was from when I lived there a decade before. | | Posted Apr 1, 2011 12:44 am |

Hasn't voted | Yeah, it's crazy. You got Prescott Valley
attached to Prescott now.

Voted 10/10 | That is funny to me. When I lived in Prescott, Prescott Valley was just our insignificant neighbor that we stomped in football every year. When I heard they moved the rodeo out to P.V. I was shocked.
P.S. I hope you don't mind, I added some photos to your arizona waterways album, mostly from the Grand Canyon. Take care! | | Posted Apr 1, 2011 11:36 am |
