West Arete of Winchell

West Arete of Mt. Winchell the way we climbed it. 'Climbing California's High Sierra' shows a different start for this route (going to the right lower fork of the main arete instead of the left one). Alternative to our route looked significantly more difficult and fairly blank. Definitely harder than listed Grade III, 5.8 rating. The way we came can probably be rated Grade III+, 5.9. - July 2007

That's a good photo. It can be a confusing maze on this side of Winchell.

	Hasn't voted	Hey Jeff1 it is nice to hear from you. 10d eh? I wonder if they took the right fork from the "1st pitch". That section of the nearby arete certainly looked difficult and way harder than what we climbed.
