Brisk and Fun
Taking chute past Emerson and traversing to skinny lake, then ascending west face via fun Class 2 and 3. Rather cold and windy, no snow issues. F'ing register can was way down a slot between boulders. Daria and I reconstructed the summit block trying to reach it. Finally, I stuck a leg down there, kicked it, then shoved 60% of my body between boulders to retrieve it. Very sketchy business just to sign a friggin piece of paper. :(
left north lake before 7, took the chute up from paiute lake instead of the pass through some steep walled dry marsh. tried traverssing the ridge, but went around some bigger stuff to teh ridge south of humphreys for soem great views of humphreys south face and teh striped wall of the demon and its dry couloirs. summit by 1230; second summit this year less than 20 since 2001. less than a mile from trailhead i skipped trail passing some slower parties and tumbled on some scree. took a chunk out of my knee so big just the white meat showed- gotta slow down.
