West Lake, W. Canada Lakes Wilderness, Adirondacks, NY
The mountains surrounding it are low, but the West Canada Lakes Wilderness is one of the most beautiful, remote, and lightly traveled areas in the massive Adirondack State Park. Trout fishing, searching for signs of a long-ago famous hermit (French Louie), or stuffing yourself with wild blueberries are among the possibilities.
