What the well dressed...

..backpacker wore in 1974. Note the absence of a padded hip belt and no sternum strap. No trekking poles and the presence of the REI cruiser pack. OK, how many viewing this pic had the REI cruiser pack? Yes, the good ole days. This is my brother Bruce and he dressed very nicely even in the mountains. No striped shirts for him. Note the heavy danner boots.

Jansport D3

I never had an REI Cruiser, but a year after this photo I bought my first of two long-used and loved Jansport D3s. I still like how they rode on me better than the newfangled internal frames, but what the heck -- I'm stronger now!! -Bob
