photo qualityI have to ask about the specifics of this photo. Is it digital or film? What brand of camera? Brand of film? Speed of film? If digital, what resolution? I've been shooting film for quite a number of years and can't seem to get the quality seen on this one. Thanks.

Re: photo qualitythanks for the compliment, but i dont know if you will like my reply: the camera is a Canon digital elf S200 with only 2.0 megapixels, and 2x zoom (never enough). I usually take pics at 1600x1200 res. although this one was 1024x768. This picture is actually a suture of 2 images (the suture line goes down the center) I just got lucky that they merged well, not all do. But the trick to this photo is photoshop - after downsizing a photo it tends to get blurry, so I use the 'sharpen' command. Also I generally auto-level the color balance for my photos, unless this really screws them up. I know there is some debate on what amount of photo improvement is legit, and there are purists who would say that any amount is inappropriate, but I just like to look at nice looking photos, so this is what I do. For reference here is a link to the original photo - full size and before sharpening and autobalance - you'll find its not as nice.

Re: photo qualityThanks for the info. I've been kicking around the idea of getting into digital photography, but other priorities take precedence right now. My brother just very recently acquired one and is still in the learing process. I'm also very familiar with Photoshop. I use Version 6 in my business and do touch up my film shots with it. And I know what you mean by auto-balance sometimes screwing up a photo; been there, done that, didn't get the t-shirt lol! I sorta cheat on the downsizing. I import an image into Corel Draw, adjust the size and then export it back out as a jpeg using the same dpi settings. Quality doesn't seem to suffer from it. Glad you like the annotations, I do those in Corel Draw. I'm always on the lookout for good shots of the Sangres from space.
