White Domes

The White Domes are an important landmark on the Canaan Mountain plateau. Besides being photogenic, their white color contrast with the red sandstone making them easy to see from a distance

It's sad however that ATV's go out there in this pristine wilderness area and destroy. There are black marks on many of the domes from them, but great photo!

	Hasn't voted	Thanks Tanya! I love those domes too and seeing the ATV’s was the only thing I didn’t like. I’m not sure what they can do about it though. It probably isn’t a good idea to mess with the locals, especially around the city of Hilldale…

	Voted 10/10	We have looked into it and lots of the ATV riders are from elsewhere including Kane and Washington County. From what we are told there is only one BLM guy to patrol a huge area so they don't check Cannan too often. Sad, because that is gorgeous there!

	Hasn't voted	Thank you, alberto! The darker colored sandstone in this area is good for rock climbing. The lighter rock seen in this photo is a weaker layer and breaks more easily.
