Whiteman Falls, WI 6

Whiteman Falls, WI 6

  • Whiteman Falls, IV, WI 6/ 95 meters.
  • 2nd pitch of this two pitch route at the end of the canyon. The first pitch is blessed with incredible mushrooms, which make the route easier than WI 6, but present interesting climbing issues of their own. The second pitch is full on sustained WI 6. According to Joe Josephson’s “Waterfall Ice, Climbs in the Canadian Rockies”, you can find a comfortable cave for your mid pitch belay if you take the left line. The left line looks to be an easier line to climb as well regarding both pitches. We climbed both pitches to the right moving towards the center at the top of the second pitch.

    Crazy angle...

this makes the climb looks like W-very hard! As always, very well composed and nice use of framing. Everytime I see a pic like this it motivates me to get better on ice so that I can enjoy all that Canada has to offer...

Thanks Dan. That is not a crazy angle, that is looking straight up from the belay after the first pitch. Whitemans is that hard, WI 6 sustained.

Thanks Holsti, better than chopping ice in the ponds from my old IL days I have to admit. You know my father use to sell (Angus auctioneer) the Badger Classic every year. My only trip into Wisconsin was working that sale-fitting. Cheers.
