snow level

Is there seriously not much snow in those mtns right now?!! Looking at your pic, it looks very hikeable and also that you wouldn't need any snowshoes. Is this true? lol

Re: snow level

Hi, climbingchic. There was indeed surprisingly little snow on the top of Shepherd Pass and in the bowl. Still early in the winter and the temperatures have been quite warm in the area for a week or so. Some of what little snow was there probably got blown away by the wind. However, you do definitely need snowshoes to get to the pass. We were sinking ankle- to knee-deep ON SNOWSHOES; even deeper if we got off the trail. I suspect there is much more snow now with the recent storms.

Re: snow level

I bet you there is LOTS of snow there right now after the recent storms.
