Wind River High Route  Sucess!

Summited on day 2 of a wind river high route via the Middle Fork Popo Agie and the northwest ramp from Deep Creek lakes. Incredibly windy but great route up!

Day trip from block and tackle hill  Sucess!

Long 28 mile day. Had to park right below Block and Tackle Hill with just a car adding 2 miles of road each way. Coon and Tayo Lakes were incredible! Temple off to the east caught my eye as well, and the Cirque of the Towers were seen from the summit.

fishin' and summitin'  Sucess!

Great fishing at Deep Creek Lakes, caught a nice 16" cutthroat. 3" of new snow on the 15th, but it melted fast at lower elevations. Wind chill made for a cool day on the summit.

Did it  Sucess!

Came in from Little Sandy Trail-head. Up ridge to Coon Lake (camp at Coon Lake). Summit at noon on Saturday. Clear views to West. Lander side socked in pretty good with clouds. Added a spiral log book to Nalgene container (loose pieces of paper made log entries difficult to read). Nice hike.

The Crux of a Week Long Backpacking Trip  Sucess!

I lead the second half of a 12 day backpacking excursion from the North to South, traversing the Winds. On Sept. 3rd the 'crux' or highlight of the trip was a walk-up to the summit of Wind River Peak. We were all backpacking in ultralight style so we wore our packs right to the summit. Glorious views, great terrain, and an all-around good time.

Wind River Peak  Sucess!

We took the long way from Mtn Sheep Lk up the south side from Tayo Lk. It was like a never-ending boulderfield. Was surprised to see 11 other people on the top. They all climbed up the Ramp from Deep Ck Lks, which looked much easier than our route. Also added a summit log. Still need a better container to hold it though.
