Mary and I took the bus to Lake O'Hara and spent the night at the campground. We started in the morning at 6AM and got to the start of the climbing at 7AM. The views were spectacular and the crux pitch was nice, but otherwise, the climbing was fairly uninspiring. Too much flaky shale and loose rock for our tastes. The descent was also a bit of a chore and we arrived too late for High Tea at the Lodge. In general, a nice day out, but probably not worthy of its inclusion in the 100 North American Classics.
I was amazed how quick the route went. Blair and I both live in the area and were scouting an easy objective for a bad weather forecast day. Wiwaxy fit the bill. There is no question I would feel most comfortable soloing the route. For competent parties, it allows for a walk off descent as well (rap stations available for the more timid).
