Wooden church in Orawka

This Roman Catholic wooden church was built in 1651 in Orawka. At that time it was near the Hungarian/Polish border - at the Hungarian side. Hungarian name of the village was Orawka or Kisárva. Now it is in Poland. The borders have moved but the mountains haven't: the church is still in the broad valley between the chain of High Tatras and Babia Góra, on 670 m a.s.l.

Famous

Centuries of Central European history in that beautiful wooden church still standing there, famous polychromies of "Biblia pauperum" inside.

Hi Tomek,

Unfortunately I had no time for looking inside (I was in hurry as I had to get in time to Kraków for a morning meeting) but at least I had time to look quickly around in the cemetery. Cemeteries also reflect history very well, and this one has a "gem", too
