Worthwhile detour

Traveling from Timberline Lodge, the Timberline Trail intersects with a relatively new segment of the Pacific Crest Trail that traverses Bald Mountain. A hiker on the Timberline Trail can turn right on the PCT, enjoy the views and wildflowers on Bald Mountain and then take a fairly well-marked path back to the Timberline Trail.
