Found my old 46er letters and logs. This was my 4th. Found the B-47 plaque but no pieces!

100 foot visibility and 50 mph winds kept us from lingering, but we made it up in about 2 and half hours from the Loj.

Climbed up this badboy on a beautiful Summer morning with my pal #9. The lot was full, adding an additional 2 miles on our roundtrip, but I believe we made the top in 2 hours. Perfect summer hike in the Adirondacks. Made it back down in time for a dip in Mirror Lake, some UBUs and dinner at LPPB, a nap, then a nightcap at Zig Zags. #16 for me.

Side hike with a great bald summit, and some fun bouldering spots along the way down Algonquin.

Goal was Iroquois, but started late in day and hit icy patches on Algonquin (no crampons). So detour to Wright, and no complaints from me.

Perfect weather. About a foot of snow on the ground, but the trail was pretty well compacted, having microspikes was very helpful.

fridayIcy, but manageable  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 17, 2009

friday

As part of a return trip to Algonquin. The hike up to the turn off was a bit icy in some parts from the October snowfalls melting and refreezing overnight. After the turnoff to the summit of Wright, the trail was more icy, although hikers were still making it without any extra gear. I used crampons, and these worked the best for the conditions. Above the treeline, it was just bare rock most all the way to the summit.
Great views of Algonquin. Never did find the b-47 crash, but didn't look hard for it either.

A beautiful day below the tree line, but the wind was biting on the summit. The snow on the trail was packed down, so snowshoes were not necessary for most of it.

Stayed one night at Loj, then snowshoed to both peaks. I used ice crawlers on hard-pack. We passed two guys with crampons and ice axes.
