Are you sure those people aren't locals? I'm asking since I've met so many local people in the mts over here who are nice and friendly but lack any environmental awareness, which results in the places being disgustingly littered.

Yes, I'm sure they were not locals. My wife and I saw the same tents and people on a weekend. Then we went back two weeks later and the same people were still there. I know that one of the tents belonged to some British climbers. Another group spoke a different European Language. Americans camp there a lot too. I have camped there myself, but for one night at a time in the middle of winter. Nobody else was there at the time. There is a running creek within a ten minute walk of here with much better flat areas for camping.
