Fun morning out.  Sucess!

Cardio session. Left truck at 7:30, forgot to check the time but we were back in Calgary at 11:45. Think it was about a 2:45 hike? Empty, didn't see anyone else, such a difference from a weekend.

Multiple outings  Sucess!

Excellent outing. Started in the mist and rain and finished in brilliant sunshine. 2 hours 58 min. My fastest time yet this year. This was number 13 of my Yamnuska traverse's this year. Great training day better than the gym.

Re: Multiple outings

One of the best training circuits for sure!! The scree coming down really is a nice break for the knees/ankles.

Yamnuska Traverse

First time on Yam, beautiful fall day. Did Yoga poses at summit. ;-)

Traverse  Sucess!

Had a great time doing the traverse scramble. And it was certainly more "scrambly" than I expected overall. The whole approach hike was in bloom, including yellow lady's slippers - the first time I had ever seen them other than in pictures. As a bonus, I made two new friends from Victoria who were traveling through. Great day in all!

I'm sure it's a better climb than a scramble  Sucess!

Did the scramble route from east to west. It was fun, but way too busy. I'll come back here after I learn how to rock climb.

Foggy  Sucess!

In the clouds getting misted on all day. All alone up there. Finished the traverse without seeing another person at all.

smeagle?

We got rained off. Definitely a burly style of climbing you got there cowboys ; )
Marty, Chris, Joseph and I ended up driving to Yosemite for easier climbing and the only place in north america that promised sun that week.

Much easier than Kidd  Sucess!

Excellent day out over the traverse. Pretty well dry when the rest of the peaks are snow laden.

W-E Traverse  Sucess!

Full winter conditions on the mountain, even the giant summit cairn was buried. I will have to go back to see what the rock scramble is like.

Yamnuska Traverse  Sucess!

Finally completed the complete traverse. The weather cooperated on a day it should not have. Fine outing.

Yamnuska Traverse

Believed I made the summit. But did not. Hard to tell with all the snow and clouds. You traverse hill after hill in the clouds. Did not complete the whole traverse due to white out conditions. Route finding difficult. It was longer but safer and easier to retrace my steps. Still a fun day out when conditions could make you stay at home.

Yam Traverse

Nice day. Great scree ski, one of the finest I have encountered! Dog's first hike.

Not sure if that is the right route name. We hike to the summit. Very cloudy. So no exposure whatsoever. Very fun hike for my first.

Route Climbed: Easy Street-5.9 Finish Variation Date Climbed: October 28, 2005  Sucess!

Just got back from 30 day road trip and had an invitation to hit Yam one more time before winter sets in. I always miss the Rockies in a bad way. This was a good fix. Had it to ourselves and not a bad 10C day. The wind laid off . Fantastic outing. Used that 5.9 finish which did not seem like a true layback to me, kind of awkward. Cheers.

Beautiful day for scrambling--not too hot, not too cold. We got rained on a bit on the way down but it felt good. The scree run was amazing, and we made good time because we didn't take the long way up this time. A great scramble if you're leaving late in the afternoon because it's so close.

Fun climbing, not as sustained as it looked from the bottom. Superb quality rock (for the rockies anyways).

Route Climbed: scrambling, east to west loop Date Climbed: April 17, 2005

well, this is the hardest scramble that I have done to date only because we decided to make it more interesting and followed a different route at the beginning. Being snowed on a little and having cold hands didn't help for the short section that almost reminded me of some easy climbing.
