Early season climb!
Climbed with RB. Camped just below Timber Creek or Stone Reservoir (has two names) and hiked from campsite to Middle Fork Little Timber Creek Trail which made for a 14 mile hike RT to do the peak. No other humans encountered. Beautiful peak. Had to post hole through several snow fields, but not too bad. The hike along the creek for the first 2.5 miles is beautiful.
The road to the reservoir from Leadore is very long and rocky. After Yellow Peak, we tried to get to Gunsight Peak which we should have done from the same area below the reservoir. We drove to about 5 miles W of Leadore and took a FS road from there, but a landowner along the way is denying access. If you plan to climb Gunsight, do it from just below the reservoir.

Middle Fork Little Timber Creek Trail
Though barely seen from Hwy 28, this is a beauty of a peak to view and to climb. This one rates right up there on my recommendation list. Combine it with Slate Roof Peak (10507') for an excellent double.
The weather can only be described as the best you can possibly experience.

Yellow Delight
I was on a backpacking trip and had hoped to fit in a climb of Yellow Peak while in the area. We’d gotten to our planned campsite at Park Fork Lake and it began to rain. All of us were tired from a couple long days on the trail, but I knew that I’d regret it later if I didn’t go for this peak. Finally the rain let up enough that I decided to go for it. Bushwacked back to the trail, then traversed around to the base of the peak, and then up the north ridge. The clouds were looking pretty ominous so I didn’t stay on the summit long before dropping down the west ridge and then back to camp. It took me around four hours for the five mile round trip hike, and my hiking partners had been asleep in their tents the entire time I was gone. To each their own I guess, but there was no way I could sleep with such a cool peak nearby. Trip Report

Critter count: 4 mountain goats, 3 moose, 1 mule deer, 0 hunters.
Had a blast. Best outing of the year.
